What can a charity give back to a donor…. Steve Bridger puts it very succinctly when he says “Passion for a cause

Back in October last year I embarked on my mission to convince anyone who would listen about the need for commoditisation. I have since flagged up examples of this approach working on sites such as Kiva, and any posts I have come across that agree with what I believe is the future for fundraising. (another one last week I missed - sorry!).

You cant, however, just jump on the bandwagon and dishonestly enjoy the rewards. You have to be honest and transparent about the way in which you ring fence these restricted funds. Without that safeguard you will attract bad press that devalues both your own brand and the value of the process as a whole.

Despite the potential pit falls I agree that this is the future. Engage, educate and communicate with your donors about the way in which their money is spent….and the outcome of their generosity, and a long term relationship will flourish that is fulfilling for both parties.
